Accomplishments

July 2024 to December 2024

  • Formed working groups and held kick-off meetings with stakeholders to align goals and processes.
  • Developed an annual reporting tool using Qualtrics, with training provided during the November 2024 Accessibility Coordinators meeting.
  • Published new accessibility guides between October 2024 and January 2025 to support inclusive digital practices. 

 

January 2025-June 2025

  • Completed working group and stakeholder meetings. Shared recommendations with leadership.
  • Recommendations approved and implementation in progress:
    • Focus communications and training on a select set of core accessibility skills
    • Incorporate 3Rs (Retire, Replace, Remediate) into processes for reviewing digital content
    • Purchase a centrally funded LMS accessibility scanning tool for CarmenCanvas
    • Provide comprehensive training for faculty and instructional staff
    • Identify high impact courses to prioritize remediation efforts
  • Recommendations approved and not started:
    • Revamp the digital accessibility web space
    • Implement progress measures using automated accessibility scanning tools for websites and CarmenCanvas content
    • Create a student accessibility training program
  • Recommendations not approved
    • Create a central team for training, communication, and user support
  • Finalized RFP for approved PDF Remediation Suppliers
  • Launched Digital Accessibility: Title II and You website to provide a central location to support the working group’s recommendations.
  • Completed a PDF Decision Tree to guide users through the process of identifying alternative formats to use to avoid the extensive time and cost needed to remediate inaccessible PDFs.
  • OTDI Leadership and Compliance set a new Digital Accessibility Strategy
