Rob Lowden Joins OTDI as New Vice President and Chief Information Officer

The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) is excited to welcome Rob Lowden to Ohio State as the next vice president and chief information officer (CIO). Lowden will join the university on August 1, following more than 20 years at Indiana University.

Chris Kabourek, senior vice president for Administration and Planning, calls Lowden “one of the nation’s top technology leaders” with “a proven record of leading change at complex institutions." Kabourek goes on to say that Lowden has a strong vision for how Ohio State's digital infrastructure must evolve to sustain top-tier education, research, and health care for years to come.

As vice president and CIO for Ohio State, Lowden will report to Kabourek and oversee a portfolio that includes enterprise IT, cybersecurity, data and analytics, and digital learning platforms – while shaping the university’s broader vision for artificial intelligence (AI) fluency, digital equity and intelligent infrastructure.
