  • New Microsoft Teams Available February 1

    A new version of Microsoft Teams is now available to all university faculty, staff, and students. This version allows Teams to operate faster and simpler than before with various updates. You may see the option to upgrade to the new teams now. On March 13, 2024 this version will become the default for all university users. Familiarize yourself with the changes below.

    To install the new versions of Teams beginning February 1, simply locate the toggle option in the top banner of your current Teams application. 

  • Review Shared Content Permissions for External Guests

    Ohio State’s Access Review policy requires all Microsoft 365 Teams and Group owners to perform an annual review of any External Guest members.

    Each year, an email is sent to owners who have shared content with external guests to confirm their access is updated on a regular basis. This ensures users external to the university who have worked or are working with the university have the appropriate access to Ohio State data.

  • Mastering Microsoft 365: Should I store files in Teams or OneDrive?

    We often get questions about when to use Teams and when to use OneDrive for Business. In general, it is best to use OneDrive for Business for storage of files that are not shared or may need to be shared temporarily. Microsoft Teams is great for sharing files and long-term collaborations with other users.

    Need to learn more about using Microsoft 365? Then mark your calendars for June 13-14! Microsoft will be presenting Microsoft Academy, an instructor-led online training. The training is open only to university employees and is a free to attend. Attendees must register for both days.

    As you start summer term and begin preparations for autumn, the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) wanted to share some updates and reminders about teaching and learning tools available at Ohio State. You may experience some new features in CarmenCanvas and CarmenZoom, and you might start noticing more use of tools like PebblePad, Adobe and OneDrive. You’ve likely also seen the emergence of AI tools like ChatGPT, and experts from across the university weighed in to provide guidance on use of AI tools in the classroom.

  • Upcoming Microsoft 365 changes: Personal Bookings in Outlook, Accessibility add-in and Mendeley add-in

    New Microsoft features and add-ins will be available by the end of June. Personal Bookings, Accessibility Review and Mendeley Cite will be available to all faculty, staff and students at The Ohio State University.
